Done Deal: Man Utd Midfielder Leaves After Dropping Down The Pecking Order Under Ten Hag
Kobbie Mainoo’s rise under Erik ten Hag has led to less first-team involvement for another Manchester United talent.

Mainoo wasn’t part of the Dutch coach’s 31-man squad for United’s pre-season tour last summer. But such has been his performances with the Under-21 side this season that he has managed to feature for the senior side ahead of other midfield prospects at the club.
Ten Hag handed him his full debut for the Red Devils against Charlton Athletic in the League Cup quarter-finals.
While Mainoo has pushed his way into the first-team squad, Charlie Savage has dropped down the pecking order.
Savage made his competitive first-team appearance for the senior side in the Champions League back in December 2021 and was impressive during the tour Down Under in July.
But after failing to get first-team minutes under Ten Hag in the first half of the 2022/23 season, the Welsh midfielder has left Old Trafford temporarily.
Savage has joined League One side Forest Green Rovers on loan until the end of the current campaign.
The Gloucestershire outfit are rock-bottom of the League One table, and recently replaced head coach Ian Burchnall with Everton legend Duncan Ferguson.
The situation at Forest Green is far from ideal but regular senior football could certainly aid his development. Amad Diallo is enjoying a very promising spell at Sunderland in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Facundo Pellistri will not leave United on loan this month.
