Arsenal receive good news ahead of upcoming busy fixtures

Mikel Arteta facing injury wait on senior star ahead of Arsenal’s Manchester United clash

Arsenal are continuing to assess Mohamed Elneny ahead of their clash with Manchester United this weekend. The Egyptian was absent from the squad that secured a victory in the North London Derby over Tottenham on Sunday with a knee injury sustained in training.

In his absence youngster Matt Smith stepped up to the bench. It is understood that Elneny has not been in training at London Colney this week yet as Arsenal’s medical staff continue to assess him. In his absence, Smith, Catalin Cirijan and Ben Cottrell have all been called up from the under-21s and have been involved in first-team training this week.

Mikel Arteta is also likely to be without Cedric Soares who is recovering from a muscle problem that has kept him out of training. According to football london news, Fulham are talking to Arsenal about the possibility of taking the Portuguese international on loan for the remainder of the season.

It is thought that the Gunners are cautious to let him go however, with Arteta valuing him as a key member of the squad. Talks have been held with Spanish right back Ivan Fresneda’s representatives although it’s unclear whether any move for him would happen this window or in the summer.

Arsenal are also likely to be without Reiss Nelson for this weekend’s clash with Manchester United as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, although it’s understood that he is getting closer to a return. The Gunners continue to be linked to signing a wide player this January after missing out on number one target Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea.

The Premier League returned at the end of December after the end of the 2022 World Cup Qatar and Arsenal have continued on with their impressive form but the question still remains, can the gunners win the title race and will injuries destroy their 2022/23 campaign? Arsenal have in the past few matches showed that they don’t have many good options off the bench hence the urge to try to sign players such as Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Arsenal is obviously aware how it will be important to have some new attackers as they have a lot of fixtures coming their way and hence the fans were obviously very upset that Chelsea stole Mykhaylo Mudryk away from them. Even though losing Mykhaylo Mudryk was disappointing, the gunners have however received good news ahead of their upcoming tough schedule as Reiss Nelson has on Instagram confirmed how he has made progress on his recovery as he is now running on the treadmill.

The return of Reiss Nelson will be like a new signing as Arsene Wenger would have said in the past and the club will hope that he steps up in the last months of the season if they don’t bring in any new faces this January transfer window after the Mykhaylo Mudryk saga.
