‘Frenkie earns €15m, Casemiro earned €7m at Madrid’: top source Romero reveals Barca’s salary problems
“The problem with salaries at Barcelona is very big. Frenkie de Jong has a salary of €15m net, Casemiro had a salary of €7m net at Real Madrid,” Gerard Romero has said.
“With these salaries, who would want to take a pay cut or leave the club? No other team will offer such high salaries.
“Six or seven Barcelona players are part of the top 10 or top 20 highest paid players in the world…”
Barca’s problem with the salary mass started under Josep Maria Bartomeu. The previous board used to offer players huge salaries so they would choose us over other teams.
Besides, in the last months of his presidency, Bartomeu agreed salary deferrals with several players. In return for delaying some of their wages, the Blaugranas would earn more eventually.
