Manchester United might sign a major Dalot improvement in the Dutch star
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is said to have identified a number of targets as the January transfer window approaches, with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries topping the list
Following his excellent performances at the World Cup in Qatar, the marauding Dutch wonder has been targeted for a transfer, with Ten Hag aggressively wanting to restock the right-back position.
According to Sport, Barcelona is interested in Diogo Dalot, who has lately emerged as Manchester United’s first-choice right-back. According to the report, if negotiations with the Portuguese defender cannot be reached, United may sanction his exit.
With Dumfries on the market for roughly €55 million (£48 million), Dalot’s potential exit may set the wheels in action, providing the Red Devils with an improvement at right-back.
Dumfries has made 20 appearances for Inter this season, scoring two goals and setting up three more as the Nerazzurri look to win the Serie A title.
His efforts for the Netherlands in the World Cup, though, have fully reaffirmed his status as a “deadly” weapon to wield down the right flank. According to Sofascore, the 42-cap ace started all five matches for his country in Qatar, producing a goal and two assists – all clinched in a spectacular 8.6-rated effort against the USA in the round of 16.
Dumfries’ entire package would have impressed Ten Hag, with his 1.6 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game showcasing his defensive ability when called upon, but prospering as an outlet.
Described as “breathless” by Micah Richards, the 26-year-old would most certainly combine his forward-thinking attitude with the United manager’s philosophy to wreak havoc on Premier League defenses.
Dalot, while a potential player, just has the same kind of creative flair as Dumfries, with United looking for fresh aspects to drive a bid for silverware.
The Portuguese defender has only contributed seven goals in 85 games for United, only two more than the Dutchman has in 20 appearances this season, so Dumfries would undoubtedly provide an attacking boost.
With Barcelona looking focused on completing a move for the 23-year-old, the Red Devils might attempt to maximize their profit and issue a like-for-like swap by bringing Dumfries into the mix.
Dumfries, who reportedly earns £55k per week at Inter, is demonstrating on the biggest stage that he has the skill set to solve Man United’s right-back problems; and with the desire for major honors intensifying among the Old Trafford fan base – the club last won silverware in 2017 – Dumfries could be the catalyst for change.
Barcelona are looking for Manchester United’s “De Gea successor.”
According to a source at Estadio Deportivo, Barcelona have targeted goalkeeper Yassine Bounou following his impressive performances at the 2022 World Cup in Morocco.
However, obtaining the signature of the 31-year-old goalie while he is in fine form would be difficult for Barcelona, and the Sevilla side will require a significant amount, said to be around 30 million euros, to allow the tower. The club column has vanished.
Notably, in addition to Barcelona, Manchester United is a side that is paying close attention to Yassine Bounou in the context of replacing the veteran goalkeeper, David De Gea. When he has a strong control of the penalty area, efficient footwork, fast reflexes, and outstanding judgment, the Moroccan star will fully match coach Erik Ten Hag’s tactical standards.
Yassine Bounou even earned the Zamora award last season, which is given to the finest goalkeeper in La Liga. As a result, it is no strange that both Barcelona and Manchester United are interested in signing the 31-year-old goalkeeper.
Barca intends to find someone to “share the fire” in the wooden frame with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but it is uncertain whether Bounou would consent to join the Nou Camp club.
The only question now is if Sevilla is willing to sever ways in the new year.
The Spanish team is presently in the La Liga relegation zone. As a result, selling Bounou would be unpopular among supporters.
Ten Hag’s objective for United is to secure the post-long-term, although that is more likely to happen next summer.
