Peter Schmeichel tells Jadon Sancho he ‘hasn’t done enough’ after missing out on England World Cup squad
Despite important goals against Liverpool and Leicester City, Sancho has struggled for form this season under Erik ten Hag.
After being replaced after 52 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, the winger was dropped for subsequent games against West Ham United and FC Sheriff, missing the last two games through illness.
The 21-year-old was not named in Gareth Southgate’s 25-man squad and in a damning indictment of his recent form, was barely in the discussion for making the group flying out to Qatar.

United’s legendary goalkeeper Schmeichel insists Sancho has not ‘done enough’ for his club and insists now is time to begin living up to his £72million price tag.
‘Every time you get an opportunity to go out there and show your own manager, you have to go out and prove it,’ Schmeichel told Sky Sports ahead of United’s Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa.
‘I think with Jadon, I don’t think he has done enough, I am a little bit disappointed. With the talent he has… yes, it is difficult to come to Old Trafford with that price tag. I understand that. But he has shown he can do whatever he did at Borussia Dortmund. He just hasn’t done it here.’
Former United striker Dion Dublin meanwhile suggested Sancho would have not been surprised at all by Southgate’s decision to leave him out of the squad. ‘Jadon has probably been honest with himself and said, “I haven’t done enough, fair play Gareth’”.
Sancho’s recent performances have come under intense scrutiny with another former United player in Paul Parker suggesting he is at risk of going down as United’s ‘worst ever signing’.
‘To be honest I’ve never really understood why Man United paid so much money for Jadon Sancho,’ Parker told Bettors.
