Aaron Ramsdale produces huge error as Arsenal go 2-0 down to PSV in Europa League
Aaron Ramsdale was guilty of a huge error for the second goal Arsenal conceded against PSV on Thursday night.
The Gunners were thoroughly outplayed by Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side in Eindhoven and went 1-0 down in the 55th minute when Joey Veerman’s powerful left-footed finish beat Ramsdale.
There wasn’t much the England shotstopper could have done with the opener but the second was a massive mistake on his part.
The corner was swung in from the left and Ramsdale made the decision to come out and try and punch the ball.
However, he got absolutely no contact whatsoever and allowed former Newcastle striker Luuk de Jong to head home a second for PSV.
Ramsdale won’t want to watch that one back anytime soon. The former Sheffield United man has saved Arsenal on many an occasion this season but he’ll have to accept responsibility for the error.
This was Ramsdale’s European debut and he was selected by Mikel Arteta after second-choice keeper Matt Turner picked up an injury.
