CHELSEA 1-1 MAN UTD: MATEO KOVACIC LOOKED LIKE A STREAKER AT FULL-TIME

Chelsea will be kicking themselves for not picking up what would have been a crucial win over Manchester United on Saturday evening.

In a game that lacked quality for the most part, the Blues took the lead in the 87th minute courtesy of a Jorginho penalty.

Chelsea were awarded the spot kick after a very needless foul by Scott McTominay on Armando Broja in the box.

The referee had no option but to give it and Jorginho – like he usually does – kept his cool from 12 yards to send the home fans wild.

But Chelsea couldn’t hold on for three points. In the 94th minute, United’s new midfield enforcer Casemiro scored his first goal for the club with a fantastic back post header.

And the Brazilian then decided to celebrate as passionately as humanly possible in front of the United fans inside Stamford Bridge.

Truly wonderful scenes for those associated with United, although Casemiro’s goal is certainly not the moment from the game that will be plastered all over social media for days to come.

No, that belongs to Mateo Kovacic, who bizarrely decided to impersonate a streaker when leaving the pitch at full-time.

Kovacic stripped down to his undies before heading down the tunnel

The Croatian midfielder, who replaced Marc Cucurella in the first half as part of a tactical change by Graham Potter, wasn’t far off wearing his birthday suit as he ran towards the dressing room.

And no, we’re not joking one bit.

United legend Peter Schmeichel was in the tunnel and his reaction as Kovacic ran past sporting just underwear, a pair of socks and boots was simply priceless.

Check out the footage, which has unsurprisingly gone viral…

Video: Kovacic’s impression of a streaker

Yeah, that is going to be a meme for the foreseeable future.

We’re not quite sure what Kovacic was thinking, but as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said in the Sky Sports studio, the former Real Madrid man is in incredible shape, so maybe he just fancied flaunting it.

Kovacic’s introduction before the half-time break certainly got Chelsea back in the game after a very lacklustre start and it’ll be a huge surprise if he doesn’t start the Blues’ next Premier League fixture.

And if he impersonates a streaker again after next Saturday’s match away at Brighton, football Twitter may very well have a meltdown…
