Manchester United XI Vs Chelsea: Possible Lineup, Confirmed Team Update And Injuries

Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United’s match against Chelsea today after being dropped from the squad.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford early during United’s win over Tottenham in midweek, prompting Erik ten Hag to relieve him of duty this weekend. The 37-year-old is expected to train alone for the remainder of the week.

Ronaldo later acknowledged on Instagram that “sometimes the heat of the moment gets the best of us” and vowed to do everything in his power to reclaim his starting spot.

United won at Old Trafford without any new injury concerns, giving Erik ten Hag the majority of his squad to choose from.

After recovering from illness, Christian Eriksen came off the bench in but now faces a tough battle to reclaim his starting spot against Casemiro, Scott McTominay, and Fred, all of whom scored on Wednesday night.

Harry Maguire (thigh), Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Donny van de Beek (muscle) are all out, and Anthony Martial (back) is still out, according to Ten Hag.

The rest of the team is more evenly balanced, with Luke Shaw ahead of Tyrell Malacia at left-back and Jadon Sancho set to keep Anthony Elanga on the wing.

United to play FC Sheriff in the Europa League at Old Trafford four days after this clash in the capital, which would be the far more likely time for players to be refreshed.

Possible Manchester United XI: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Eriksen, Casemiro; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford.
