Man United prepared to pay €80 million to sign Frenkie de Jong
Fichajes says that Manchester United is still keeping an eye on Frenkie de Jong and will try to sign him again in the summer of 2019. The Red Devils are willing to pay €80 million to get the midfielder from Barcelona.
Throughout the summer, Manchester United’s main interest was in Frenkie de Jong. Erik ten Hag spent a long time looking for his old student, but he never found him.

Manchester United signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to fill in some of the holes in their midfield. But neither of them has anything in common with the Barcelona midfielder. The player didn’t leave Camp Nou because he wanted to play in the UEFA Champions League.
But it kind of went wrong because the Catalan giants are about to be kicked out of the Champions League and into the Europa League.
Their recent loss in El Clasico to Real Madrid has also messed up de Jong’s plans for the future, and he might change his mind next summer.
This summer, Manchester United and Barcelona agreed on a deal worth €85 million, but they couldn’t agree on a deal with the player.
De Jong has been said to be the best-paid player at Camp Nou, which has led to a lot of rumors. But the 25-year-old has called out the lies, even though he is due a large amount of his deferred salary.
Even though Manchester United got two very good midfielders, they still don’t have that “x-factor.”
And getting rid of the problem by signing the former Ajax midfielder is why the Red Devils are interested.
According to the report, Manchester United might have to pay around €80 million to bring de Jong to England.
De Jong is a midfielder who can handle being pressed and has the vision to pass the ball where it needs to go. And having him on the field will give the other midfielders more freedom to move around.
The Barcelona midfielder can’t be traded in January. But if Manchester United makes it to the Champions League, ten Hag will have enough money the following summer to build his own style of football.
It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils have better luck the second time around.
