Man United’s Ten Hag bags Premier League Manager of the Month award
Following his appointment as manager of Manchester United this summer, the manager had a terrible start to life at Old Trafford
On the first day of the season, Manchester United lost to Brighton at home 2-1.
Alarm bells truly began to sound after they lost 4-0 to Brentford.
However, the Dutchman managed the storm expertly as United recovered with victories against Liverpool and Southampton.
Even though United only played two matches in the top flight in September, their outstanding performance was what earned Ten Hag his first Manager of the Month honor.
They were able to get points from their away encounter against Leicester because to Jadon Sancho’s goal, which got things started to a fast start.
Afterward, a fantastic performance against Arsenal on September 4 made it four straight Premier League wins.
However, when games against Crystal Palace and Leeds United were postponed, that momentum has momentarily stopped.
But despite the short amount of playing time, United’s performances were still good enough to win Ten Hag the award.
As he gets his team ready for Sunday’s Manchester derby versus City at the Etihad, he will be desperate to avoid the terrible curse that is so frequently linked with the honor.
Since January 2019, Ten Hag has been United’s manager without a win.
The last manager to do so while in the Old Trafford dugout was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
With a staggering total of 27, renowned former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson holds the record for the most victories in a single month.
And before Solskjaer, he was the previous United manager to win the award, back in October 2012.
