WATCH: Ronaldo suffers a nasty blow to his face after clash with Czech goalkeeper

The Portuguese skipper survived an injury scare in Saturday night’s after coming together with the Czech Republic goalkeeper.

Ronaldo took a nasty blow to his face after a brutal collision with Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik during his side’s clash with Portugal in the Nations League clash on Saturday night. The Seleccao skipper was left bloodied in the face having come together with the Olympiacos shotstopper while challenging for an air ball in the host’s penalty area.

Portugal entered their penultimate game of the Nations League group stage knowing that only a win will put them in contention to rival Spain in the charge to win League A Group 2. Before the end of the first half arrived, the former title holders were able to stamp their dominance, taking a two-goal lead into the break thanks to Manchester United pair Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes.

However, they first had to deal with the scare of potentially losing their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo after being involved in a nasty clash with the Czech goalkeeper. In an attempt to break the deadlock inside the first 15 minutes, the 37-year-old forward jumped to meet a high ball. However, he ended up catching a blow from the goalkeeper to his face, leading him to bleed profusely. The nervousness within both teams was quelled after treatment was administered and the Manchester United striker simply carried on after the wound across his nose was covered with a plaster.

Rating: 1 out of 5.
